Growing the Champagnat Marist Mission in Aotearoa - NZ
The Association of Champagnat Marists, Aotearoa - NZ
With fewer Brothers today, the Champagnat Marist mission is being entrusted to the wider Marist family, who remain deeply committed to carrying forward the spirit of Marcellin Champagnat.
We are reaching out to reconnect with those who have been part of this journey - whether through working in our schools, serving on boards, on sports fields, as former Brothers or in other ways.
Building Whānau Groups of Champagnat Marists
Our vision is to form small groups of Champagnat Marists, to be known as Whanau Groups —local, supportive communities dedicated to continuing Marcellin’s mission to serve children and young people, particularly those in greatest need.
Each group will provide ways for connection, faith, and service, with opportunities tailored to the unique interests and needs of its members.
Whānau groups may l gather to:
• Foster a Marist family spirit by meeting regularly
• Explore ways of providing support and service to others be they in schools or in the community;
• Pray together and deepen their spiritual journey;
• Retain contact for purely social reasons;
It is also possible to become a member of the Association without being attached to a Whanau Group
A Warm Invitation
We are sharing this initiative with individuals and small groups across Aotearoa New Zealand, inviting them to join or form Whānau groups. People may join for many reasons:
• To reconnect with past Marist associates
• To support families and/ or young people in need.
• To deepen their spiritual journey and grow in faith.
All are welcome around the table!
Join Us!
On 15 February 2025, we will launch the Association of Champagnat Marists, which will connect Whānau groups across Aotearoa New Zealand and link them with similar groups worldwide.
This gathering will bring together interested Champagnat Marists to shape the future of this mission.
Together, let’s continue to live and share the Marist spirit—serving, growing, and journeying in faith as a united community.
