REMAR

Inspiration for REMAR: "Do not let people disregard you because you are young ..." 1 Timothy 4:12

REMAR is a Marist Youth Movement that began in Colombia, South America in 1976. Brother Nestor Quiceno saw an enormous need for young people within the Church to be given the chance to respond positively to life.

Starting as a simple retreat day followed up by weekly meetings, REMAR has developed into an international movement. It has been operating in Australia and New Zealand since 1990.

REMAR is a programme for both school students and young adults. It begins at the end of Year 10 (14-15 year olds) in small groups that gather for discussion, social outings, leadership training camps, reflection days and to join in group games and prayer. The aim of REMAR is to allow young people to develop into well-rounded personalities, confident in themselves and mature enough to move beyond fear and selfishness in their lives as young Christians. This aim feeds directly into the Champagnat Marist charsim and the dream of Marcellin to educate not only in the Chrisitan faith and knowledge but also in the skills to live life with courage, compassion and love in order to help others.
