The Parable of Three Churches

Posted by Br Kieran Fenn on 3 December 2010 | 0 Comments

A French cardinal recently asked, "When did you last see a group of young people running to get the first places for prayer?"  The answer was Taize.  Surley there is a lesson to learn from the three places we visited on that Sunday journey to Taize.

Me and My Prayer

Posted by Br Doug Dawick on 26 November 2010 | 0 Comments

When will I ever learn that my prayer doesn't change God?  Like, get God to change His will over a particular situation.  My prayer really asks God to help me change myself so that I can change the world, or at least help people in their need or give me the courage to follow a particular course or action.

Taize

Posted by Br Kieran Fenn on 19 November 2010 | 0 Comments

Sunday 7th November was a powerful experience for me, my first Mass at this incredible place, Taize, centre of youth, liturgy and ecumenism.  Even in these cooler days of Autumn there were 700-800 people at Mass, mostly young from all around the globe.  Some beautiful young people were Lutherens from Sweden.  It was so incredibly moving to celebrate in Taize style, the singing and a silence after the key proclamation of the Sunday Gospel, "I am the God of the living."  If ever a line fitted this awesome scene, it was this.  I thought and prayed for all you beautiful young people who are part of our young adult ministry contact and the many of you who have graced my life over the years.

What if you could be anything, or anybody?  Who would you choose to be?  Would you be a strong business leader?  A movie star?  A sports hero or heroine?  A famous politician?

This Will Change your Life

Posted by Br Kieran Fenn on 10 September 2010 | 0 Comments

How often we see this sign: a new cell phone, which university to attend, psychic hotlines.  Lots of things get pitched to us in such breathless tones.  And we are all disappointed.  Little wonder we get suspicious of such sales talk.  But why should I be justified in saying that the Bible could change your life?

The Best Religion

Posted by Br Doug Dawick on 3 September 2010 | 0 Comments

A prominent Catholic theologian was discussing religion with the Dalai Lama and asked him, "Your holiness, what is the best religion?"  He thought the answer would be something like, "Tibetan Buddism" or "The oriental religions, much older than Christianity."
