Marist Lay

Living the faith of the Church through growth in the Marist spirituality of Marcellin Champagnat.
A community alive and connected to the mystery and mission of Jesus, following him

Faith and Mission , Following Mary in the footsteps of Marcellin

So, what is the FM Connection? It began in 2007 in Wellington and was developed to give another dimension to living in community with Brothers. In 2010 the Brothers moved to Auckland but the community they had built in Wellington continued with the Wellington community made up of four 20 something Lay Marists who wished to continue the FM Connection spirit and work.

It's about belonging to a community committed to faith in Christ
and his mission for the world, as was Mary, the first disciple.
In short FM means

  • Faith and Mission
  • Following Mary
  • in the footsteps of Marcellin

Marists who walk in the footsteps of St Marcellin Champagnat live a spirituality of the ordinary,
following Christ as Mary did.

The two communties are unique. The Auckland branch is devoted to helping young men experience living and working in a Marist style while living in community with Brothers. The Wellington branch is a community of four Lay-Marists together living in shared life and working to keep the Marist spirit alive in Wellington.
