REMAR

"Do not let people disregard you because you are young ..."
1 Timothy 4:12

REMAR is a Marist Youth Movement that began in Colombia, South America in 1976. Brother Nestor Quiceno saw an enormous need for young people within the Church to be given the chance to respond positively to life.

Starting as a simple retreat day followed up by weekly meetings, REMAR has developed into an international movement. It has been operating in Australia and New Zealand since 1990.

REMAR is a programme for both school students and young adults. It sets sail at the end of Year 10 in small groups that gather for meetings, social outings, leadership training camps, reflection days and meet to discuss issues, join in group games and prayer.
The aim of REMAR is to allow young people to develop into well-rounded personalities, confident in themselves and mature enough to move beyond fear and selfishness in their lives as young Christians. This equips them with the courage and compassion to voyage into our society and be of service to those less fortunate, as Jesus, Mary and Champagnat did.

REMAR aims to develop leaders in the Church who can take the initiative, discover their full potential for the betterment of society, and develop in their relationship with God and one another.

REMAR groups operate at Marcellin College in Auckland. St Joseph's College, Apia, Samoa, launched in March 2007, and relauched atSt Bernard's and Sacred Heart Colleges, Lower Hutt, in July 2007.

Representatives from Marcellin College have attended REMAR Leadership Camps in Melbourne in 2006 and 2007.
