Marcellin's Trust in God

Marcellin's relationship with God, combined with knowledge of his limitations, explains his unbounded confidence in God. The depth of this trust amazed those who worked with him, and scandalised some who saw his actions as reckless. In his humble way, Marcellin saw God at work, and so acted with courage and commitment. (17)

Drawing from Marcellin's experience we embrace the mysteries of our life with confidence, openness and self giving (18)

Meeting God in Everyday Life

Daily experiences are special places of encounter with God.....work and relationships, silence and noise, joys and sorrows, achievements and anguish, tragedy and death (54)

God is revealed to us though those we meet. Young and old people, members of our families and communities, the refugee and prisoner, the sick person and the care-giver, our co-worker and neighbour, are all mirrors reflecting the God of life and of love (55)

We experience God also in the witness of people committed to peace, justice, and solidarity with the poor and those who act with generosity and self-sacrifice in the service of others (56)

"God has anointed me to bring good news to the poor"

All Marists share the same mission: to make Jesus known and loved. (135)

Jesus lives out his mission by both word and witness. In his relationships Jesus transcends boundaries of religion and culture. In these encounters, he values and affirms, and he challenges. (136)

Our trust in God urges us to move towards unexpected horizons

Like St Marcellin......we open new ways that enable youth to be transformed by the experience of knowing and loving Jesus......we readily carry the gift of education and Marist presence to places and situations that might require abandoning securities and even risking our lives......we actively engage in creating new paths of inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue. (155)

With Mary of the Magnificat our hearts are filled with gratitude for this gift of Marist spirituality.....we pray.....You are our Ordinary Resource and we ask you to pray with us, so that we may continue to be: brothers and sisters of radiant hope...of listening and discerning hearts......and of audacity (156)

Reflection for September

Reflection for October

Reflection for November

A year of spirituality,
Inspired by Marcellin,
Done of simplicity,
A touch almost divine.

Marcellin drank in the springs
Of La Valla and l'Hermitage,
Crossing valleys and hills,
Having God as his rock and fortitude.

In this way he himself became a road,
He himself became a river,
Giving to all attention and affection,
At all times to those in need.

Thus he became for others a source of life
For all those following his steps
Thanking him with all their heart,
For the dream he gave them.

It is a dream burning like a fire,
To make Christ known and loved;
A dream of a true and loving educator,
At the heart every apostolate,

Growing around Christ’s table,
Sign and space of the Eucharist.
Where the violets of Champagnat reveal in all beauty
What Champagnat brought to the light of day.
